Richard Tuttle

Richard Tuttle (b. 1941) was born in Rahway, New Jersey and studied art, philosophy and literature at Connecticut’s Trinity College. He spent a semester at Copper Union in New York, was briefly in the U.S. Air Force, and then began working for and exhibiting with Berry Parsons Gallery in 1965. He is known for his subtle works, utilization of scale and line, and minimalist design.  Tuttle’s pieces have since been exhibited in museum exhibitions around the world and included in the Venice Biennale, Documenta, and several Whitney Biennial exhibitions. His work is included in the permanent collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Tate in London, The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, and numerous other institutions.
